Langtry Country House Bed & Breakfast & Self Catering - Somerset
On the edge of Exmoor….
My name is Susan and I would like to welcome you to my beautiful home. I have worked in the catering industry most of my life but my ultimate dream was to run a B&B. I trained as a Cordon Bleu Chef at the Tante Marie School of Cookery in 1977. I ran a small country hotel in the New Forest for many years and more recently ran a household on a country estate. So, here is my dream!
Langtry Country House is situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park with stunning views of the Quantocks. The beautiful Edwardian house is set in its own grounds of 4 acres in the delightful Abbey village of Washford and has been refurbished to a very high standard but in keeping with its era.

 Easy access from London, the South East and Midlands makes Langtry the ideal place for a relaxing holiday, romantic weekend break or, for the more energetic, there are opportunities for walking, horseback riding, golf, cycling, sea fishing, fly fishing and tennis.
There are many places of interest to visit in the local area. On returning to Langtry you can relax in the comfortable lounge, take afternoon tea on the terrace or stroll around the beautiful garden.
The bedrooms are very spacious, simply but tastefully decorated and all are en-suite. Each room has Egyptian cotton sheets, large fluffy towels, bathrobes, a fine selection of teas and coffee and a flat screen TV with DVD player. There is WiFi throughout the house for those who wish to bring their laptops.

The Drawing Room is available to guests as a lounge and dining room with a log burning stove, providing warmth and cosiness. There is also a small selection of books and some DVD’s. Fresh fruit and filtered water are provided for guests.
For those who like the outdoors there is a large cloakroom where coats and boots may be left so they are ready for the next day. If required, packed lunches can be provided at an additional charge.
Breakfast has always been my favourite meal to cook so I hope you will enjoy the Langtry breakfast experience! Fresh fruit juice, homemade bread, jam and marmalade, local free range eggs, sausages and bacon which are all prepared to the highest standard and served in the Drawing Room at a time that suits you.
There are some excellent pubs and restaurants in the nearby villages offering great food as well as local beers, ales and cider. By special arrangement a light supper can be provided at Langtry.

Guidance and advice is given and arrangements can be made for our guests for some of the following:
- Walks in the Quantocks, generally throughout Exmoor and in the Brendon Hills with the old Mineral Line trail passing close to the house.
- Mountain Biking.
- Swimming at sandy beaches nearby. Indoor swimming at Minehead.
- Golf and Tennis at Minehead.
- Sea Fishing in the Bristol Channel from Minehead Harbour and Watchet Marina.
- Fly Fishing: The Barle and Exe rivers provide excellent Salmon and Brown Trout fishing, while the reservoirs at Clatworthy and Wimbleball are stocked with Rainbow Trout.

How to find us
Heading west from M5 at Junction 23 take A38 to Bridgwater where take A39 direction Minehead.
Keep on A39 at Williton. Go by Tropiquaria.
House is next on right immediately after 30 mph sign before entering Washford.
Alternatively Junction 25 at Taunton where head to Williton on A358.
